The Associate of Science in Nursing program is an Associate Degree and is designed to prepare the graduate to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nursing. Upon successfully passing the NCLEX the graduate will be prepared for both basic and advanced skill sets, enabling them to apply their knowledge and skills effectively in real-life healthcare scenarios. As an entry level Registered Nurse, the nurse will have opportunity for employment in a variety of settings such as acute care facilities, long term acute care facilities, long term care facilities, physicians’ offices etc.
Clinical experiences are an integral part of the program which provide the student opportunities to apply their knowledge + skills focusing on physical assessments, therapeutic communication, safe medication administration, intravenous therapy, with special conditions for mental illness care, children and family, women’s care during pregnancy, and care of the older adult. Upon completion of the program the graduate will be awarded an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing.
