Massage Therapy
Hot Stone Massage – 5 hours
This course will present the basics of hot and cold stone massage including benefits, contraindications, set up, and how to use stones during massage therapy.
Traditional Chinese Medicine – 5 hours
An introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine that outlines the history of TCM, five element theory, zu/fang organ theory, and simple techniques.
Introduction to Lymphatic Drainage – 5 hours
In this introductory course, students will learn the proper techniques to for lymphatic drainage massage.
Sports & Rehabilitative Massage – 5 hours
This course will introduce you to the theories and principles of pre-, inter- and post- event sports massage. It will define what sports massage is, physiologicalprinciples that govern sports massage, and will explain different injuries suffered by athletes. This course will also provide information on sports psychology, stretching, diet, and contraindications.
Pregnancy Massage – 5 hours
This course will introduce you to pregnancy massage, providing valuable information on the physiology of pregnancy, benefits and contraindications to pregnancy massage, and basic massage techniques to treat the common discomforts of pregnancy. This course will cover every topic of pregnancy includingpreconception support, the prenatal period, labor, and the postpartum period. It will also discuss marketing strategies to improve your practice.
Reflexology – 5 hours
This course will introduce you to the principles and practice of reflexology on the hands and feet. The hands and feet contain points and zones that relate to individual glands, nerves, muscles, and organs. Working with these points, the practice of reflexology alleviates energy blockages that may cause pain or disability in the body, restoring optimum health and providing complementary holistic treatment. This course gives a background in reflexology and then provides charts as well as a whole feet and hand reflexology session.
Ethics Overview – 5 hours
This course provides a general overview of ethics topics such as scope of practice, professionalism, confidentiality, consent, business practices, and record keeping. It outlines the code of ethics and standards of practice that regulate the massage therapy profession.
After completion of this course, you will have a full understanding of what is required of you as a professional massage therapist.
Introduction to Nerve Impingements – 5 hours
In this course, students will learn about the nervous system, current pain science, and how nerve impingements happen. Techniques to treat issues like carpal tunnel, golfer’s/tennis elbow, sciatica, shin splints, and plantar fasciitis, will be covered.
Introduction to Myofascial Release – 5 hours
This course will provide an overview of the fascial system, the anatomy of connective tissue, the nervous system, and the integumentary system. Students willlearn simple Myofascial techniques and how to incorporate Myofascial principles into your Swedish massage.
Body Mechanics – 5 hours
In this course, students will cover the use of one’s body in ways that are safe, are energy-conserving, reduce physical stress and strain, and are anatomically and physiologically efficient.
Cupping – 5 hours
This course will cover the benefits and techniques of cupping and the different cups used. Explain the difference between Dynamic and Static cupping and the benefits of each. Safety and sanitation along with Cupping contraindications, will also be covered.
Body Treatments – 5 hours
This course will cover the different body treatments available to massage therapists. The difference between the treatments such as body scrub and body polish vs. body wraps will be covered. The course will also teach contraindications as well as set up and procedure for each.
